# Deleting a Holder

> Remove a Holder from the Midaz Module when they no longer hold Accounts — subject to your deployment's data retention and compliance policies.

<Danger>
  Deletion behavior depends on your deployment's data retention, compliance, and regulatory policies. In regulated environments, Holder records may be retained to satisfy legal, regulatory, audit, reporting, or compliance obligations. Confirm your retention policy before proceeding.
</Danger>

To delete a Holder, follow these steps:

<Steps>
  <Step>
    From the **Holders** page and find the Holder that you want to delete.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Click the three dots (<Icon icon="ellipsis-vertical" />) from the Actions column, and select **Delete**.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    A confirmation dialog will appear.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Click Confirm to finalize the deletion.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Data deletion options

***

<Warning>
  **Regulated deployments**

  In environments subject to financial regulation (e.g., BACEN, LGPD, GDPR), holder records associated with financial transactions may be subject to mandatory retention periods. Hard-delete operations in production should be reviewed by your Legal and Compliance team before use.
</Warning>

When deleting holders in Midaz Module, you have two options:

* **Soft Delete** (default): The holder is flagged as deleted but remains in the database. Maintains audit trails and allows recovery if needed.

* **Hard Delete**: Requests removal of the record subject to your deployment's retention and compliance configuration. Physical removal is not guaranteed where legal, regulatory, audit, or record-keeping obligations require retention.

For more information about data security and deletion, see [CRM Data Security](/en/midaz/crm/crm-data-security).

<Note>
  Holders in Midaz Module are your foundation for customer management. Keep holder data accurate and up-to-date to ensure smooth operations and regulatory compliance.
