Accounts are the core financial units in Midaz. This section covers how to create, organize, and classify accounts to match your business structure — from individual balances to customer-level groupings.

Here, you'll find:

* [**Accounts**](/en/midaz/accounts): The fundamental financial unit in a Ledger. Each Account is linked to a specific Asset and records debits, credits, and balances. Midaz also supports External Accounts for tracking value that flows in or out of your organization.
* [**Portfolios**](/en/midaz/portfolios): Logical groupings of Accounts belonging to a single entity, such as a customer or business unit. Think of a Portfolio as a wallet containing multiple asset-specific Accounts for the same holder.
