# Deleting an Account

> Permanently remove an Account from your Ledger — once deleted, the Account and its history cannot be recovered.

<Danger>
  This action is **permanent.**  Once deleted, the Account **cannot be recovered**. Make sure this is the intended action before proceeding.

To delete an Account, follow these steps:

    From the **Accounts** page, find the Account that you want to delete, click the three dots (<Icon icon="ellipsis-vertical" />) from the **Actions** column, and select **Delete**.

  <Step>
    A confirmation dialog will appear.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Click **Confirm** to finalize the deletion.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Once confirmed, the **Account** will be permanently removed from the platform.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  You **cannot** edit External Accounts that are automatically created when an Asset is created.
</Warning>
