# Context setup wizard

> Set up a reconciliation context step by step in the Matcher module of Lerian Console: create it, add sources, map fields, add rules, activate it, and run the first match.

The **Manual Setup** wizard in the Matcher module of Lerian Console guides you through the setup of one context. It takes you from a new context to a first completed match run. The source, field map, and rule steps use the same screens as the context detail page.

## Opening the wizard

***

You can open the wizard from two places:

* On the **Configure → Contexts** page, click **Set up by hand**. The wizard starts with a new context.
* On the Matcher dashboard, the **Getting started** checklist has a **Set up by hand** button. The wizard opens on the active context, at the first step that you have not completed.

## How the wizard works

***

The wizard shows the six steps in a rail. The header shows how many steps are complete.

* The wizard opens on the first step that you have not completed.
* You can open a completed step or the next step to do. The other steps stay locked.
* Matcher decides when you complete the source, field map, and rule steps. The wizard reads the setup progress of the context from Matcher.
* Click **Back** to go to the previous step. Click **Continue** to go to the next step. **Continue** becomes available when you complete the current step.
* Click **Exit setup** to leave the wizard and go to the Matcher dashboard. Your work stays saved. You can resume later.

## Setup steps

***

| Step | What you do | Done when |
| - | - | - |
| **1. Create context** | Fill in the context form and click **Create context**. See [Managing contexts](/en/products/matcher/ui/managing-contexts) for the fields | The context exists |
| **2. Add sources** | Add at least one left-side source and one right-side source. See [Context sources](/en/products/matcher/ui/context-sources) | Matcher no longer asks for a source |
| **3. Map fields** | Add a field map for each source. See [Context field maps](/en/products/matcher/ui/context-field-maps) | Matcher no longer asks for a field map |
| **4. Create rules** | Add at least one match rule. See [Context rules](/en/products/matcher/ui/context-rules) | Matcher no longer asks for a match rule or a fee rule |
| **5. Activate context** | Review the setup and click **Activate context** | The context is **Active** |
| **6. Run first match** | Upload data on both sides and click **Run first match** | A match run over data from both sides completes |

### Step 1: Create context

The step shows the same form as **New context**. Click **Create context** to save it. The new context becomes the active context in the Matcher sidebar. The wizard then moves to **Add sources**.

When you resume the wizard on an existing context, this step shows the context name, type, and interval.

### Step 4: Create rules

The step shows the **Rules** tab first. Add your match rules there.

A context with a fee normalization mode also needs a fee rule. After you add the match rules, Matcher can ask for a fee rule. The step then shows the **Fee Rules** tab. Add a fee rule there. See [Context fee rules](/en/products/matcher/ui/context-fee-rules).

### Step 5: Activate context

The step shows how many sources and match rules the context has. If Matcher still needs something, a **Setup incomplete** panel lists each missing item. For example: "Configure at least one fee rule."

The **Activate context** button becomes available when Matcher reports that the context is ready. Click it to activate the context.

### Step 6: Run first match

<Steps>
  <Step>
    Upload a transaction file for a left-side source. Then upload a file for a right-side source. See [Uploading reconciliation data](/en/products/matcher/ui/uploading-reconciliation-data).
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Wait until each side shows its imported rows. **Run first match** becomes available when both sides have a completed import.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Click **Run first match**. The wizard follows the run until it ends.
  </Step>
</Steps>

When the run completes, the wizard shows **First match complete** with the run figures. Click **View exceptions** to open the exceptions of the run. Click **Go to dashboard** to open the Matcher dashboard.

If the run fails, the wizard shows the reason. Click **Retry run** to start it again.
