# What is Lerian Cabine?

> What Lerian Cabine is: the operators' console over Lerian's native rails, and the Cabine API that serves it.

Lerian Cabine is the operators' console over Lerian's native rails. Your back office uses it to read the state of each rail and to act on it.

The Cabine API holds the state that operators share: alert acknowledgements, shift handoffs, manual review approvals, and user deletion requests.

One installation of Cabine serves one institution.

## Workspaces

***

Cabine has a workspace for these rails, one for administration, and one named **Cabine** for the whole installation. The screens are in Portuguese. This documentation quotes each label as the screen shows it.

## How Cabine reaches the rails

***

The operator's browser calls each rail directly. The browser also calls the Cabine API and Access Manager. Cabine reads each service address from its [configuration](https://docs.lerian.studio/en/rails/cabine/cabine-configuration.md).
