The call is idempotent: releasing a block that is already `RELEASED` answers `200` with its current state. The call answers `409` (`PIX-0012`) when the block is settling, settled or failed, when the SPI already returned a surplus of the payment, or when the block is `PENDING` without `spiBlockId`: its SPI create went unanswered, so repeat the create under its `requestRef` first. It answers `422` (`PIX-0328`) when the ledger refuses the release because the account is blocked; the block stays `PENDING`, and the same call releases it once the account is unblocked. It answers a retryable `502` (`PIX-0070`, `PIX-0071` or `PIX-0652`) when the SPI fails the unlock, cannot confirm the lock state, or still lists the lock `PENDING`: repeat the call. A `PIX-0652` that persists across repeats can mean that the ledger refuses the fee skip that the MED requires: repeat once `overrides.allowFeeSkip` is on for the Pix ledger. A block whose lock still waits for the parked credit of its Pix (`AWAITING_CREDIT`) is released only after that credit completes: [credit the received Pix](/es/reference/interfaces/pix-lerian/spi/credit-a-received-pix-whose-ledger-credit-is-parked), then repeat.
