Use the Exceptions queue in the Matcher module of Lerian Console to review reconciliation exceptions. An exception is a break that needs human review, such as a transaction without a match.

Accessing the Exceptions queue

Click Exception Handling → Exceptions in the Matcher sidebar. The queue shows the exceptions of the Active context that you select in the Matcher sidebar. To see another context, change the Active context.

Queue tallies

Above the filters, tallies count the whole filtered queue, not only the current page. A small bar after the tallies shows the resolved share of the queue.

Exceptions of one run

To see the exceptions of one reconciliation run, click View exceptions on that run in Operational History. The Originating run link on an exception page opens the same view. To go back to the full queue, click View all exceptions.

Filters

The list updates when you change a filter. With Sort by set to Default, the queue shows unresolved statuses first. Inside each status, the newest exception comes first. If no exception matches the filters, the empty list shows a Clear filters button.

Exception table

Click a Reason link to open the exception. See Exception details. Matcher classifies the severity of each exception automatically. For the rules, see Exception routing.

Bulk actions

1

Select the exceptions

Select the row checkboxes. A bar above the table shows how many exceptions you selected.
2

Extend the selection (optional)

Click Select all N matching to select every exception that matches the filters. If the selection cannot hold all of them, a notice shows how many it holds.
3

Choose the action

Click Assign, Resolve, or Dispatch in the bar.
4

Complete the dialog

Fill in the fields and click the action button.
The Console sends a selection of more than 100 exceptions in batches of 100. The bar shows the number of batches. When all exceptions succeed, a message shows the count and the dialog closes. When some fail, the dialog shows how many succeeded and how many failed, with a reason for each failure. Exceptions that succeed leave the selection. Failed exceptions stay selected, so you can read each reason and try again. Click Clear selection to clear the selection. A change to a filter or to the Active context also clears it.

Resolving exceptions

Open an exception to resolve it. These actions on the exception page resolve the exception:
  • Resolve: Close the exception with a resolution text.
  • Force match: Mark the transaction as matched and close the exception.
  • Adjust entry: Record an adjustment for the transaction and close the exception.
Match to this pairs the transaction with a suggested counterpart. After a pairing, you still resolve the exception. For each action, see Exception details.
