Organizations
An Organization is the top-level entity in Midaz, representing a financial institution such as a bank or fintech. It owns and governs financial data within the platform, acting as the primary container for all financial operations.
In practical terms, a bank or financial group registers as an Organization in Midaz, establishing a structured environment for its operations.
Sub-Organizations
Organizations can establish parent-child hierarchies, enabling banks to represent subsidiaries, regional branches, or different business units within the same framework.
This hierarchical structure is ideal for financial groups that operate multiple legal entities but still require centralized oversight. Each entity can have its own set of Ledgers, ensuring operational independence while maintaining a consolidated view at the group level.
Organization structure
- Organization > Ledgers: Every Organization can own multiple Ledgers. All financial records—such as accounts and transactions—are maintained within Ledgers that belong to a specific Organization.
Key characteristics
- Organizations are the highest level in the hierarchy.
- Each Organization governs its own Ledgers, defining operational boundaries.
Flexible hierarchies
Midaz empowers businesses with dynamic organizational hierarchies, enabling seamless management of complex structures.
If your company has multiple locations or distinct divisions, you can create child organizations to represent specific branches, offices, or subdivisions. These child organizations connect to a parent organization, which provides a unified framework for maintaining consistency, enforcing governance, and streamlining operations.
This structure ensures data integrity, prevents unauthorized cross-organization interactions, and reinforces operational autonomy.
NoteFor businesses managing multiple organizations, we recommend using this hierarchy to establish clear boundaries while enabling controlled collaboration where needed.
Example
Company XPTO is a Brazilian company with branches in São Paulo and New York. In this case, the structure would be as follows:
- Parent Organization: XPTO Ltda
- Child Organizations:
- XPTO New York
- XPTO São Paulo
Using this structure, the company can:
- Assign distinct operational roles to each branch.
- Monitor performance at both local and global levels.
- Customize workflows to match each branch’s unique needs.
Benefits of organizational structuring
- Scalability: Easily add or modify branches as your business grows.
- Efficiency: Streamline processes across all levels of your organization.
- Personalization: Tailor configurations for each branch to enhance relevance and impact.
By offering this flexibility, Midaz adapts to your company's structure, no matter how straightforward or intricate it may be.

Managing Organizations
You can manage your Organization either via API or through the Console.
Via API
- Create an Organization — Register a new Organization.
- List Organizations — View all Organizations in your workspace.
- Retrieve an Organization — Get details of a specific Organization.
- Update an Organization — Edit the details of an existing Organization.
- Delete an Organization — Mark an Organization as deleted.
NoteWhen you delete an Organization, it’s not permanently removed from the system.
A deletion tag with a timestamp is added instead, and the Organization becomes inactive and unusable — helping preserve historical data for audit trails.
Via Console
All Organization management actions, including viewing, creating, editing, and deleting, can be done through the Organizations page in the Midaz Console.
Learn more in the Managing Organizations guide.
TipIf you're creating your first Organization in the Console, you’ll do that as part of the onboarding flow. To learn more, check out the Midaz Console onboarding guide.
